The level of service was amazing, from the first greeting to the final goodbye. The rooms were incredibly well-stocked and very luxurious and the dishes were outstanding.

This was my first time using the pool. Perhaps because I wasn’t accustomed to it, but I felt that the layout could be improved. I was given a basket along with a key, but it would have been nice to have towels and bathrobes available either in the pool area or in the shower room, as well as shampoo and conditioner. After changing into my swimsuit and swimming, I realized this and had to go back to get them, but it was a bit cold. Fortunately, there was no one in the gym, but since it is visible through the glass, it was a bit awkward. Also, the sauna was not yet warm, which was disappointing for someone who enjoys saunas. However, the pool itself was clean, and I was able to swim comfortably. I would definitely like to use it again and look forward to it.

This was my second visit to Hakone with my friend after a long time.
I was really looking forward to the unique room.
Upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted with welcome sweets and drinks, which were delicious and truly impressive. The free drinks were also a great touch.
I have many food allergies and dislikes, but the hotel accommodated them very well, and I really appreciated that. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. Next time, I will definitely make a reservation for teppanyaki.
I was also impressed by the high level of hospitality from the staff. The conversations were friendly without being too casual, which I felt was perfect for the hotel.
It was such a wonderful experience that I will definitely visit again. Thank you for making it a memorable trip.

Hands down THE place to stay in Hakone if you're after relaxation, modern amenities and great food and heartfelt service!
We stayed the night to escape the hustle and bustle of the city - boy were we in for a treat!
As we approached the property, the staff came rushing out to meet us and help us with our luggage.
We were ushered in and checked in while enjoying our welcome drinks and snacks.
The rooms are clean and modern with all the amenities you'd expect from a 5 star hotel and more.
We also loved the bluetooth speaker in the room - we played zen music as we enjoyed for the private bath facing lush greenery in the balcony. The bamboo trees swaying in the wind was almost at arms reach - so soothing!
Speaking of private bath, it was well maintained and just the nice temperature. We also had the option to add cold water to temper it down to our preferred temperature.
While the room and amenities are topnotch, the staff is the clincher here! We were initially worried that our inability to speak Nihongo would be a problem but the staff made us feel at home and very welcome while being super respectful! Special kudos to A-to (Eito?) for being the ultimate host looking after us!

Crossing the suspension bridge felt like entering a different world.
From the moment I arrived at this extraordinary location, my excitement was at its peak. The staff left a great impression, and the tea, sweets, and food were all delicious. This ryokan truly offered everything, and it’s rare to find such a place these days. It was a perfect stay for a special occasion.

This time, my girlfriend planned and booked a surprise trip to Kinnotake for my birthday. From the interior, food, onsen, to the hospitality, everything was perfect. It was the best ryokan experience of my life.
Because it was my birthday, they provided various services, and my girlfriend was really looking forward to the trip. We kept saying we would love to come back, and it became an unforgettable birthday trip.

We stayed here for my husband's birthday this time, after having a wonderful experience during our previous visit. The hotel is located in a beautiful place next to a river and completely surrounded by nature, which gives you the sensation of being in a remote place far from the outside world.

The hotel rooms are amazing, with your outside onsen looking directly to the bamboo and Japanese pine forests were you can relax and forget about everything. The amenities in the rooms provide you everything to stay in it without the need of leaving it, unless it is for the amazing spa sessions (a must) and the special dinner.

The hotel staff is incredibly attentive and polite, always looking to make your stay even better than it already is. They give you a very personalized service, like if you were the only guest in the hotel.

We really recommend everyone to stay at Kinnotake Tonosawa at least once in their life. We hope we can return someday.

We visited for a pre-birth trip with my husband. I had informed them in advance that I was pregnant, and they prepared a body pillow in our room and provided cushions at the lounge and dining area, showing great consideration. The room was spacious and open, allowing us to enjoy a peaceful time while looking at the greenery. I believe the absence of a TV contributed to our special time together. The food was exquisite, with delicate seasoning that highlighted the natural flavors of the ingredients. They also accommodated the removal of raw foods and alcohol, which was very considerate.

We also appreciated the complimentary drinks available at any time. Although it was the end of summer, the night terrace had sparklers prepared, creating wonderful memories.

The staff, who were mostly young, were very polite and had wonderful smiles, leaving a great impression.

We are truly glad we chose this accommodation!

They were remarkably friendly and attentive, more so than I would expect from a trainee. On top of that, we were pleasantly surprised with a discount service. The food was not only delicious but also visually pleasing. The in-room hot spring was spacious and the temperature was just right. It was truly a wonderful experience. I definitely want to visit again and hope to try the sauna next time!

Having enjoyed a stay in Sengokuhara previously, I decided to try staying at Tonosawa this time. The experience was filled with delightful events that kept us excited throughout, such as welcome drinks and sweets, free-flowing beverages in the lounge, sparklers, goldfish scooping, and summer-themed ramune service.

During this stay, as I was pregnant, the hotel provided a body pillow in the room, non-caffeinated tea bags, and accommodated my dietary needs by avoiding raw foods. These thoughtful services truly exemplified the luxury of this accommodation.

Even at checkout, they offered drinks after check-in, allowing us to prepare for our departure at a relaxed pace. Unlike other inns where you might feel an unspoken urge to leave quickly, this inn consistently showed care for its guests until the very end.

What touched me the most was receiving a good luck charm from Hakone Shrine for a safe delivery, with a heartfelt message wishing for a healthy baby. I was genuinely moved by this gesture.

I will definitely return! Thank you very much for everything.

I had visited Sengokuhara in the past, but this time I stayed at Tonosawa for the first time. Excitement began at the entrance of the suspension bridge. We received a warm welcome. The room was Take which we had requested the second floor when booking. Looking out from the window, bamboo was everywhere, creating a spacious and bright atmosphere with a sense of openness. The spacious terrace open-air onsen in the room was also fantastic. On the day of arrival, I learned from word of mouth or someone's blog that there was no TV in the room. However, upon entering the room, my thoughts quickly changed. I decided to fully enjoy the room, onsen, and view! I listened to jazz and enjoyed a time far removed from everyday noise.

The meals were meticulously prepared, visually appealing, and extremely delicious. We ordered several specialty dishes such as butter-grilled abalone, but I was so full that I ended up leaving the final cooked rice... Even without additional dishes, the portion size was satisfying. The abalone was small but very tender and delicious. Moving to the bar, I sampled five types of desserts while enjoying the luxurious atmosphere with bamboo lit up around me.

For breakfast, there was a choice of Japanese and Western dishes, both of which were excellent in terms of content and volume.

The room amenities, drinks in the refrigerator, and coffee were well-stocked, making me want to enjoy more room time even during consecutive stays. The staff's hospitality was warm with friendly conversations and smiles, making everyone wonderful.

It was my first visit, but I would love to visit again and recommend this inn to others. Thank you very much for your warm hospitality, allowing us to relax and enjoy ourselves.

Discreetly located across a suspension bridge in its own little oasis is a welcoming 20+ room lodge featuring some of the best food around. There are more modern places yet the warmth of the wood decor and the flawless customer service put this one on tops of my book. They are working on the public access onsen but for now the private one in the room is just fine. Plus the food!!! And a great selection of older Burgundies for any wine lovers out there.

For the second year in a row, we stayed here. My wife is pregnant, and we were grateful for the various accommodations made, such as adjusting meals and preparing cushioned rooms and decaffeinated coffee after discussing our needs in advance.

Additionally, we were thankful for the opportunity to receive a prayer for safe childbirth at Hakone Shrine before departing. The only disappointment was that the public onsen was under construction, but we heard that a large onsen, gym, and pool will be available in summer, which makes us want to stay again.

This was our last onsen trip before our child is born, and it was very healing. Thank you very much.

This is my third stay. When I first visited, I was so comforted by the friendly and warm hospitality that I became a complete fan. I love the rooms that allow you to feel one with nature, and the spacious open-air bath in the room is a place where you want to spend endless time. My husband and I had been talking about staying here someday and were really looking forward to it. As a result, our stay was highly satisfying, from the room, onsen, meals, to the staff's hospitality. Being pregnant, we had informed them about dietary restrictions beforehand, which they confirmed again upon check-in. Additionally, the room had a maternity pillow, which helped me maintain a comfortable posture. I also appreciated their thoughtfulness, such as providing cushions for back support during meals. During our search for a place to stay with hot springs and fireflies as our main criteria, we happened to receive a direct mail from Kinnotake Tonosawa, which offered us a special plan for our accommodation. We were able to choose our room and opted for Room 107, which was recommended by the staff, and our stay was fantastic, especially the room's private bath. It had a large tub (big enough for 4-5 people, so it felt a bit empty with just the two of us!), and we could adjust the temperature ourselves.

However, we were disappointed to learn that the communal bath was closed for renovations and being converted into a pool. As for the meals, we were so full from lunch that we felt bad for leaving some food uneaten at dinner. But we made up for it by thoroughly enjoying breakfast. We both ordered Western-style meals, and my wife couldn't resist asking for seconds of bread, while I found myself asking for an extra serving of soup. My wife even mentioned how delicious the sausages were and wished she could have had more!

One of the purposes of our visit was to see fireflies, and we were delighted to be able to go out after dinner to observe them. Although it seemed a bit early for fireflies at the inn's "Hotaru no Kawadoko" due to the altitude, we were able to see them at the Hakone Yumoto "Hotaru Park" after driving down.

The staff, who were mostly young, provided excellent service and promptly attended to our requests, including setting up the television as we had asked beforehand. We've stayed at various inns as we love traveling, and although we've encountered high-end inns with poor service and food, Kinnotake Tonosawa was a rare gem that exceeded our expectations in a good way. We'd love to visit again in a different season.

We're also looking forward to visiting Kinnotake Sengokuhara, as it's part of the same group. To everyone reading this, we highly recommend visiting Kinnotake Tonosawa. It's a recommended inn in Hakone.

Lastly, to all the staff at Kinnotake Tonosawa, thank you so much for your hospitality. As we enter the rainy season and approach summer, please take care of yourselves and your health.

Everything about our experience was fantastic. Staff were delightful and helpful. My only disappointment was learning the level of noise pollution. There is a main road that can be seen from the room's terrace with constant traffic from trucks, motorcycles, and cars. Our time there was tranquil, but with truck and car noises.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay for three days! The staff defines perfect service and catered to our every need, be it ordering a taxi, treating us to a sublime spa experience and massage, or preparing beautifully crafted and delicious meals.
