Nice hotel except for 5pm check-in

Had we realised that the earliest we could check-in was at 5pm, we would not stay here. Having travelled from Tokyo, we had planned to go easy the first day but ended up having to wander around town until check-in time. The hotel itself was well situated and comfortable, just a five minute walk from Hakone Yumoto station. There used to be an onsite restaurant but that has since closed.

Such a stunning hotel! It feels both modern and traditional. The room itself is just amazing, I only regret that room with outdoor terrace was not available, but nonetheless, it was a perfect stay. It was our favorite hotel out of all the ones we stayed in over our 2 weeks vacation in Japan.

The hotel was absolutely amazing - the best one we stayed at in Japan! The room was spacious and comfortable, the bed was cozy and luxurious, and the rooms were wonderfully quiet. The staff was friendly and the location was perfect. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hakone!

Very pleasant stay at Hotel Zagakukan. Friendly staff, very clean and immaculate rooms, comfortable bed and amenities, zen atmosphere. Quiet location close to main street and train station. A wonderful experience, highly recommend.

The ryokan has a great atmosphere, and the quality of the facilities is high. The modern Japanese style makes it perfect for couples.

A Relaxing Atmosphere

The atmosphere was calm, and although the bathroom in the room was compact, we were able to enjoy the hot spring. The staff were from overseas but gave clear instructions in Japanese, which made us feel comfortable. The room’s facilities were modern and very comfortable. I would love to stay again.
