Staff service was poor, possibly due to inexperienced workers—they brought us to the wrong room and kept checking their notes.
The first impression was very bad. Optional dishes and drinks felt overpriced for what was offered. There was an unpleasant odor in the bathroom area. While I understand the design concept, the dining area lighting was far too dim.
I also wished there was a TV set in the bedroom. Overall, it was a stay filled with dissatisfaction.

We stayed at Kinnotake Sengokuhara to recover after climbing Mt. Fuji. The room was very spacious, the private hot spring was wonderful, and the food was delicious. But for the price we paid, one experience really disappointed us.

We ordered extra water in the evening and asked the staff by phone to leave it at the door so we could pick it up later. We were exhausted and just wanted some quiet time alone.

Instead, the staff member came to our door and called us on the phone, repeatedly shouting “Open door!” even though we clearly said, “Please leave the water at the door, we’ll pick it up later.” He did not listen at all and only got louder and angrier. It was resolved in the end, but it left a bad feeling that affected our entire stay.

We understand there was a language barrier, and we admit we should have learned more Japanese before our trip. Still, at a luxury ryokan at this price, we expected the staff to at least try to understand what a guest wants. Shouting at a guest is not considered polite in any country.

Still, it was a luxurious experience overall. We hope this point will be taken into consideration.

Everything was top-notch—the room, onsen, staff, hospitality, and complimentary mini-bar drinks.

But above all, the cuisine was outstanding. The broth and ingredients were perfectly refined and truly delicious. Recently, many ryokan serve overly sweet or strong flavors, so I was deeply moved to enjoy authentic, beautifully balanced Japanese cuisine again. I truly hope they maintain this commitment to flavor.

The meat sauce was slightly sweet, though still delicious, so perhaps serving it on the side would be a nice option.

The attentiveness of the staff upon arrival was wonderful, and the quality, seasoning, and menu design of both dinner and breakfast were top-tier. We stayed with our 3-year-old and 2-year-old children and were extremely satisfied. However, the time between check-in and dinner was quite long, and I regret not choosing a slightly later check-in time. It would be even better if there were a few more options for dinner times.

Thanks to your attention, we were able to spend a truly wonderful time.
Although I noticed a little wear in the onsen compared to my previous visit, it was still very pleasant, and I ended up enjoying it many times.
The dinner, especially the meat, was excellent.
Regarding the sexy yukata, it is sometimes difficult to wear, so it would be great if pants were available. I hope this can be considered.

A wonderful stay in a peaceful and beautiful setting. The meal each night was incredible. The staff are so friendly. Watch out for the traffic on the way back to Odawara, we allowed an hour based on the 40 minute’s it took when we arrived, but it wasn’t enough due to the return traffic and we missed our train - some better advice from the staff would have helped, but overall, I can’t rate this place more highly, it’s wonderful

We stayed in the “Hime” room.

The spaciousness of the room and the comfort of the onsen were both excellent.

Above all, the dinner was outstanding. The spiny lobster sashimi was the best I’ve ever had in my life.

The bar also had a lovely atmosphere. This is a truly wonderful hotel that I would love to visit again.

We had the most wonderful 2 nights at Kinnotake. From the moment we arrived, someone was waiting at the gates to take us directly to our room where they checked us in quickly. We were offered a wide selection of welcome drinks and desserts. The whole property was very relaxing.

The customer service throughout our stay was very attentive and while some staff are not as fluent in English they made every effort to ensure we had everything we needed. They were very prompt to our requests. When we requested a different pillow and humidifier it was waiting in our room when we returned from a day of exploring.

The room was immaculate, very clean, and lots of amenities included such as a fridge stocked with drinks. We thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen at every moment we could, it was relaxing and helped ease our muscle soreness.

We had breakfast and dinner included and the meals were amazing! We enjoyed every bite and couldn’t get over how great the quality was. The meals were slightly different on both days. There wasn’t a single dish we did not enjoy.

Thank you kinnotake for a wonderful stay and for helping to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We hope to return in the near future.

This place is a hidden gem. If you travel to Hakone, consider staying here. From the moment the staff meet you at the entranceway. To the moment when you depart, all your needs are taken care of.
Food was outstanding. Service was 5/5. Staff are so gracious and polite. Accommodations were amazing. Overall such a fantastic experience. Check this place out.
