My husband and I visited to celebrate an early Christmas. The room was very lovely, and the onsen and amenities were excellent. The staff at the lounge made our time there very enjoyable. The freshly squeezed mandarin cocktail was delicious. We would like to visit again when we come to Hakone. Thank you for everything.

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at Kinnotake Tonosawa. It was the best part of our trip in Japan. The staff members were excellent and were very kind and attentive. The food was amazing and we loved the variety of every meal. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!! We hope to return one day!!

Honestly was expecting more. Lovely accomodation however some parts werent really thought out properly in terms of design. If this is a modern interpretation of a classic ryokan, certainly several places could have been better especially the smaller details.

Room wise was great, big and spaceous however bath water pressure was bad. Onsen water temp was slightly warm.

Food wise is just bad. Its edible. But definitely not representative of what the best japan have to offer. Restaurant area could do some upgrade in terms of thoughtfulness in terms of design.

Overall website gave a better presentation of the facilities than actual or expected.

This was our first Ryokan experience so I don't have anything to compare it to. That said, we could barely be happier with out stay. The room was beautiful and smelled amazing (I know that might sound strange but the incense and other aromatics of the whole place really took things to another level). It was very large (we did splurge for one of the top 3 rooms but it was still beyond expectations). The free drinks in the minifridge were a nice bonus, the open air private onsen was so relaxing we must have spent half a day in it in total.

The food was also quite excellent. The Teppanyaki restaurant (Zen) which we had for our second night's dinner was an especial highlight. We were served by the executive chef (not sure if that was because of our room choice or coincidence but we appreciated it all the same). He was a delight to talk to and watch work. The dishes were some of the best food (meat especially) we had on our 2 week trip.

The service though was what set everything apart. We were greeted well before we got to the door with someone to take our bags and help us check in. The room tour, dinner and breakfast service, any other minor requests we had were all handled extremely well. When we told them we'd be departing too early for breakfast, they offered to make us something to go. Which happened to be two freshly made onigiri and a box of pickles (we could never get enough of the pickles so this was a welcome treat), both packaged in beautiful wood boxes.

The only minor complaint is we did not have much opportunity to use the bar. It seemed to close early our first night and did not have a bartender the second tight we were there at all (I'm sure they may have been sick or something, we understand things happen). Again, a minor complaint.

Would highly recommend Kinnotake Tonosawa, especially splurging for one of the Club Floor rooms as we did. Pricey yes, but well worth it.

Everything was wonderful and fantastic! This was my first stay, and I chose "Sora" because I heard I could stay at a great price. The fragrance, interior, and view were all amazing, and I unexpectedly enjoyed the Mid-Autumn Festival moon from the bath. The customer service was excellent, and I deeply appreciated the perfect handling of my companion's food allergy, which I hadn’t even been aware of. I’d like to express my gratitude to the cooking staff and others I didn’t interact with directly. The surprise birthday plate for my companion was a big success—I’m really glad I requested it. I treated myself a bit for this extraordinary experience, but it felt worth every penny. The dishes, presentation, and tableware were truly exceptional, and I lost track of time enjoying the delicious food. I also used the bar and had a relaxing time—thank you for that! Since my room was in a pre-opening phase, I’d like to mention a few points for improvement (not complaints). I intended to ask for the fireplace to be lit, but it wasn’t. When the room was dark, both my companion and I kept bumping our feet on the edge of the bed, resulting in a pretty significant bruise for me. It’s quite dangerous. My companion mentioned that the bathroom lock on the third floor seems to have been broken for a while, which is a shame. Overall, it was a lovely experience that makes me want to visit again.
