Partner and I spent one night here and really loved the experience until the next morning. Service was impeccable, the food was great, and the accomodations were wonderful.

Unfortunately, we prebooked a taxi to take us to the hotel the next morning and it never arrived. Because we will had time, we asked that the hotel refund the taxi booking and we would just take the bus. However, they had absolutely no sense of urgency, despite knowing when our booked train would depart. Finally, they had a member of the staff drive us to the train station with maybe 2 min to spare before train departure. Definitely not how I wanted to start my morning after a relaxing night. Unfortunately we still did not receive our refund since we just did not have anymore time to stand around waiting for them.

This was my first time staying at Kanonotake Tounosawa, and I was taken care of by two staff members (I will keep their names private). Their customer service, consideration, responsiveness, and explanations were incredibly polite, easy to understand, and made me feel at ease. I was initially nervous, but both were very friendly. The staff member who took care of me in the morning was the same age as me, and we had a great conversation. The staff member in the evening and I also shared a love for the same anime, which made our conversation enjoyable. This helped me relax, and I was able to spend the day in a very elegant manner.

This experience became the best memory of my life, and I am so grateful! Thank you very much!

When we arrived to the Ryokan, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff to confirm our reservation and treated to refreshments and sweets. The whole check in process took roughly 15 minutes and we were shown to our room. The room was very clean and open as depicted in the pictures; there was a Bluetooth speaker, and we requested a TV and were provided one almost immediately. The main attraction, of course, was the private bath on the balcony overlooking trees outside (privacy tents placed below us and to the sides of us, too. The bath was hot, but we were able to add some cold water to lower the temperature before getting in. Dinner was served in their dining area and we had a side table with a view outside while being served a variety of food, which was very filling. Nice little touch that you can light sparklers outside the lobby balcony at night. For breakfast, we went with the Japanese breakfast before heading back to enjoy the room some more before checking out. Also wanted to say thanks to all the staff for taking care of us. Thanks to Sae for checking us in and serving us at breakfast and Aido for serving us at dinner. Overall, would recommend this resort to other couples for the peace and tranquility.

This was my second stay, and just like the first time, I was completely satisfied. I liked this place so much during my first stay that I decided to come back for a vacation.
The guest room’s open-air onsen and the meals were both wonderful, and the time flew by. I will definitely stay again.

After a year, the machines have finally made their appearance, which greatly increases expectations.
If possible, I would prefer the gym to be open 24 hours while maintaining the current sense of openness (for the sauna, wearing swimsuits would prevent being too visible from the gym). For the pool area, if privacy is a priority, time restrictions may be an option, but since there are not many guests staying primarily for the pool, perhaps it could be open freely from 9 AM to 10 PM while observing the situation.
If possible, adjusting the water temperature for this season would be appreciated.

The warmth of the wood in the private outdoor bath in the guest room was very soothing and provided a truly relaxing experience. The attentive service from the staff was also excellent. The location is peaceful and surrounded by lush greenery, yet only a 5-minute taxi ride from Hakone Yumoto, making it convenient for travel. I have been choosing this place for winter hot springs.

From the welcome to check-in and check-out, it was a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

The smiles of all the staff who assisted me were wonderful, and their service was exceptional.

When a little accident happened after dinner, they responded quickly and effectively, preventing my face from swelling or bruising.

The ryokan's interior design and room decor were perfect, and the open-air onsen was ideally placed with just the right temperature. I was able to enjoy a long soak in the pen-air onsen at night without being bothered by bugs. The shower room was also clean and well-maintained.

Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and quite substantial. When I was unsure about which sake to have at dinner, they explained it clearly, allowing me to enjoy a wonderful drink. "Fly Me to the Moon" was particularly tasty.

There were many other wonderful aspects, but I will conclude here.

All the staff had such lovely smiles. Thank you for your care.

I would love to stay again when I visit Hakone.

It was a long-awaited return, and it was truly exceptional. The hospitality was excellent with everyone being friendly and attentive, and we were rejuvenated by the smooth quality of onsen. The meals were inventive and unique; my mother and I were deeply moved. Both the Japanese and Western-style breakfasts were delicious, and we were delighted that we could have seconds of rice, bread, and soup. The setting is beautiful and quite peaceful, however, there is no public onsen and the beds in the room are of very poor quality, for the price charged at Kinnotake, we expected much higher quality beds. The beds are low quality spring mattresses, with no mattress topper hence it is very uncomfortable to sleep on. At this price, we do expect much more of the beds and the hotel facilities (public onsen, gym etc).

The facilities, meals, and staff were all wonderful and excellent! However, we had a difficult time getting a taxi on the way back, and when we went to the bus stop in the rain, we were refused service, so we couldn't catch the train we wanted. It was quite a hassle. Regarding transportation, I think immediate action is necessary rather than just saying "We couldn't catch a taxi." If this issue is not addressed, I will not visit again.
