I had a delightful stay at this beautiful onsen. I was traveling alone on the weekend during a business trip, and this resort was a beautiful way to spend the weekend. The service was very attentive, and the food and environment were lovely. I also enjoyed a fabulous spa facial. I highly recommend this resort.

My spouse and I stayed here together. For dinner, we could choose between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM, so we chose 7:30 PM.
Right after check-in, we used the gym. To be honest, I highly recommend the gym. It’s new, clean, and fully equipped with a solid range of machines. We brought our own workout clothes and shoes and really enjoyed it.
After washing off a light sweat in the bath, we had free beer and sparkling wine in the lounge before 5:00 PM while gazing at the bamboo forest.
Returning to our room, we took a relaxing soak in the room’s open-air onsen. After dozing off for a bit, it was time for dinner.
Dinner was a Japanese course with meticulous craftsmanship. The delicate, refined seasoning truly brought out the natural flavors of the ingredients and broth. There were plenty of dishes, and even as a hearty eater, I felt completely full. Drinks ordered at the dining venue are at hotel prices, so keeping them modest and enjoying the room's minibar instead offers great value.
The minibar had two medium bottles of beer, red and white wine, and sake—all completely free, which felt like a fantastic deal.
For breakfast, you choose between Japanese and Western options at check-in. As a couple, we ordered both. In conclusion, I recommend the Japanese breakfast. The Western option was delicious too, but the Japanese one felt more authentic to the ryokan experience.
Overall, the hospitality was attentive and provided a comfortable stay. Since young children cannot stay here, it is very quiet. The architecture and interior design are tasteful, matching the official website photos in the best way possible.
The only issue that concerned me was the ceiling around the lounge air conditioner, which had noticeable dark dirt along the vents and lacked a sense of cleanliness. I was also disappointed to see a few stains on the room walls. For these reasons, I gave 4 stars for facilities only.
There were many guests who seemed to be international travelers, and I feel confident recommending both our facilities, meals, and service as a proud representation of Japanese culture.
While it is not a budget accommodation, I felt it offered exceptional value for the experience provided.

Overall, I was very satisfied. The amenities were well provided, and I was happy that even the haori was cleaned. I often stay at various luxury inns as a hobby, and I found the items and facilities here very clean and well-maintained.

Personally, I would have liked a samue. While it may go against the inn’s concept, I would also have appreciated a trash bin in the room. The meals were delicious and the portions just right. I ordered the Western breakfast, which was comparable to a café in town, but I would have liked some fruit for dessert. Perhaps the Japanese breakfast would have been better.

That said, this ryokan has become one of the places I would like to revisit. Thank you.

We stayed here for a special celebration. We appreciated that the staff discussed the details with us in advance and prepared a special plate and towel art for the occasion. We informed them of a shrimp allergy, but shrimp miso soup was served at breakfast. However, it was promptly replaced, which we appreciated.
The room was spacious, and we were able to relax and enjoy soaking in the onsen. The service was excellent, and we would like to stay here again. Thank you very much.

The room and meals were wonderful, and the hospitality was excellent. As always, we left the inn promising to return. I think the smoking area is a little too close to the entrance, so it might be better to have it in the roofed building on the right-hand parking area, although the sandals might get a little dirty.

Having an open-air onsen and a dedicated space for preparation was very rare, and I really enjoyed being able to spend a long time in the onsen.

Meals
The food was excellent, comparable to a high-level restaurant.

Lounge & Bar
It was nice to have a space where we could relax with an all-you-can-drink option. The bar also had a great atmosphere.

Sauna & Pool
I did not use the pool, but the quality of the sauna was sufficient for a small private sauna, and I was satisfied. When moving from the changing room to the sauna, it was visible from the gym, so it would be better if this could be improved so that visitors do not have to worry about what to wear or while returning. There were no people using the gym at the time, but it would be preferable if it were not visible.

Customer Service
All staff were polite and provided excellent service. It was also nice that they placed our luggage first without guiding us to the room immediately, allowing us to move at our own pace without feeling pressured.

I stayed 1 night with my friend during our trip to Japan, and it was a much needed for relaxation! The private onsen made it convenient to use whenever you want to, and the bamboo forest surrounding the establishment was very pretty. It was raining as we were arriving, so the employees ran out with umbrellas and to help us with our luggages. It was a nice, warm welcome, especially since we had been traveling all morning! We had the welcome desserts and drinks as we checked in, and the rest of the evening was great. The dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and the servers/staff are very attentive and ensured we had a good experience. They also sort out anything you need for transport away from the ryokan, but we ended up taking the bus, since the stop is right outside the resort. The room was so comfortable, clean, and we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend!

Really love the hotel! I’ve been to Japan a few times and this is one of the top hotels I have ever stayed in. The outdoor onsen is spacious and very comfortable and private, facing a lot of trees. The service is also flawless, and there were even Chinese speaking staff for us.

Despite the rain upon our arrival, the staff kindly came to the parking lot to greet us. They were very attentive during check-in and at mealtime, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable time. The food was delicious, and we were able to relax and enjoy it at a leisurely pace. The in-room open-air onsen was just the right temperature, making it very relaxing. We were in Hakone for 2 days and stayed overnight here. We felt welcomed shortly after crossing the bridge and was greeted by staff before reaching the doors. Check in and check out the following day were both smooth. There was a yukata provided upon check in, I believe for girls only, out of a selection of 4 that could be worn in the duration of the stay. All 4 were beautiful. Dinner and breakfast were brilliant and filling. The room was amazing, nice comfortable beds and additional yukatas in the room. The private hot springs bath was near the shower in the patio, overlooking a nice view of nature. Along with the helpful staff and relaxing ambiance, we would definitely come back here again on our next overnight visit to Hakone.

Considering the cost of the stay, I was extremely satisfied. Although there is no large public onsen, the onsen in the room was more than adequate. The kaiseki cuisine was very delicious. At Kinnotake, you can enjoy unlimited beer, coffee, and tea at the lounge, which you can take back to your room. The service was also excellent. I have stayed at various ryokans in Hakone, and this was a place I would like to return to.

It's my favorite in Hakone. The pleasant hospitality and conversation of the staff brimming with smiles, delicious meals, and baths are healing in themselves. It's become a rule in our household to only stay at Kinnotake when in Hakone. Recently, it's unfortunate that there have been times when only hot water comes out due to the poor adjustment of hot water and water in the room. Please, I ask for fundamental improvements. It's a favorite enough to forgive with a smile for minor troubles!
