Sakura in Serenity—Onshi Hakone Park

Sakura in Serenity—Onshi Hakone Park

Cherry Blossoms at Onshi Hakone Park

Tucked away on a scenic hilltop overlooking Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji, Onshi Hakone Park offers one of Hakone’s most picturesque and peaceful spots for cherry blossom viewing.

Overlooking Lake Ashi

Originally established as the Hakone Imperial Villa during the Meiji era, this elegant estate once welcomed members of the imperial family and international dignitaries. Though the original villa was lost to earthquakes in the mid-20th century, the grounds have since been beautifully transformed into a public park — carefully preserved and blooming with seasonal flowers.

In spring, delicate sakura blossoms paint the landscape with soft hues of pink, perfectly framing panoramic views of the lake and distant Mt. Fuji. Despite its incredible beauty, the park remains a hidden gem, often quieter than other popular sites, offering a rare chance to enjoy nature in peaceful solitude.

Stroll along well-kept paths, pause at viewing decks, and explore the Observation Hall, where history and natural beauty come together in quiet harmony.
