As a repeat guest, I have always had a wonderful experience, and I would rate my overall experience almost perfect. If I were to make a few requests, they would be:

I would like to know the reason for the delay in the gym’s opening. If possible, I would love for the gym and pool to be open from early morning until around 10 PM.
The spa’s hours overlap with the meal times, so it would be great if this could be reconsidered.
A shuttle service would be appreciated (even if it’s a paid service).
I will definitely visit again.

We stayed at Kinnotake Tonosawa Hakone and had the most memorable experience of our Japan trip.

It started off with one of the staff members greeting us at the entrance and leading us into the lobby where we sat down and completed check-in whilst drinking tea and a dessert of our choice which were both delicious.

A staff member then brought us into our rooms and gave us a tour of the amenities and we were left to relax on our own. The room was very spacious, tidy and have very generous seletion of complimentary drinks and snacks. The main highlight of course was our own private onsen with a stunning view that we immediately soaked in to relax.

Another thing to note is that we were provided with yukatas, with my female partner being given the choice of different patterns for her to choose from. They were very confortable and positively added on to the ryokan experience.

We then had our dinner which was several courses of top tier dishes. We tried more variety of food here than our entire week spent prior to our stay at this ryokan and is easily the most delicious and filling meals we’ve had in Japan.

The staff really pays attention to your needs and really took notice when we mentioned it was our honeymoon. We were greeted with a surprise that accompanied our dessert alongside a very nice gift towards the end of our stay that will remain in our memories forever.

We also opted to receive treatment at The Moon Spa and the two ladies there know their stuff! Me and my partner have never been more relaxed in our lives and even fell asleep here and there, my body felt better than ever after a busy itinerary exploring Japan.

The facilities, food and the rooms were top knotch but the staff members really make it so special, everybody was so nice and attentive. They made a lot of effort to communicate in English and we never felt like there was much of a language barrier.

Thank you for such an amazing experience, we are hoping to come back sometime in the future!

We stayed for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon, and I cannot recommend it more. The room was excellent, the staff was wonderful, the spa relaxing, and the food delicious. We didn't leave our room all day and enjoyed soaking in the balcony bathtub. We would absolutely return for another stay.

We were in Hakone for 2 days and stayed overnight here. We felt welcomed shortly after crossing the bridge and was greeted by staff before reaching the doors. Check in and check out the following day were both smooth. There was a yukata provided upon check in, I believe for girls only, out of a selection of 4 that could be worn in the duration of the stay. All 4 were beautiful. Dinner and breakfast were brilliant and filling. The room was amazing, nice comfortable beds and additional yukatas in the room. The private hot springs bath was near the shower in the patio, overlooking a nice view of nature. Along with the helpful staff and relaxing ambiance, we would definitely come back here again on our next overnight visit to Hakone.

We spent 2 fabulous nights and wish we had planned to stay longer. The room was comfortable and well equipped, the private bath a luxury we enjoyed many times a day. The fully stocked fridge was also much appreciated.
We really enjoyed all our meals which were tasty, imaginative and beautifully presented.
The staff were all lovely, warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and accommodating. But a special shoutout to Miss Yuica Kobuko who does everything with such sincerity that it truly touched our hearts. Thank you for the wonderful time.

Kinnotake Tonosawa had the perfect room to retreat to after a day of exploring around Hakone. My wife and I both took long soaks in the relaxing private outdoor onsen bath. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. We were very impressed with the level of service. The breakfast room provided a beautiful view of the valley, and the Japanese food exceeded expectations. The room was not overly expensive, and it's definitely a great value.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Kinnotake Tonosawa for one night on the way from Osaka to Tokyo as part of a vacation trip to celebrate our recent wedding. I was looking for an onsen resort that was quiet, understated, and relaxing, and Kinnotake Tonosawa ticked all the boxes. We were warmly welcomed, and received amazing service. The room was beautiful, and had everything we needed. The private onsen bath on the balcony that looked out into the bamboo forest was the highlight, and we thoroughly enjoyed using it at all times of the day. It was raining during our stay, which made the onsen soaks even more enjoyable as you could just sit in the water and listen to the sounds of the rain and forest. The dinner and breakfast meals were also top quality, and we enjoyed trying everything that was placed in front of us.

The hospitality and service were the best part of the trip, however, and the thing that will make us return: staff were welcoming, accommodating, and constantly doing their best to provide what we desired. We had a lovely set up in our room that congratulated us on our wedding, and received special Kinnotake Tonosawa chopsticks as a present to take home. They will be well treasured. Also, after hearing my offhand comment about the incense they used throughout the hotel, I was given some to take home. We had a wonderful stay, and were very impressed by how well taken care of the hotel was. We will be back some day soon.

The hotel is located in a beautiful place next to a river and completely surrounded by nature, which gives you the sensation of being in a remote place far from the outside world.

The hotel rooms are amazing, with your outside onsen looking directly to the bamboo and Japanese pine forests were you can relax and forget about everything. The amenities in the rooms provide you everything to stay in it without the need of leaving it, unless it is for the amazing spa sessions (a must) and the special dinner.

The hotel staff is incredibly attentive and polite, always looking to make your stay even better than it already is. They give you a very personalized service, like if you were the only guest in the hotel.

We really recommend everyone to stay at Kinnotake Tonosawa at least once in their life. We hope we can return someday.

From the welcome to check-in and check-out, it was a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

The smiles of all the staff who assisted me were wonderful, and their service was exceptional.

When a little accident happened after dinner, they responded quickly and effectively, preventing my face from swelling or bruising.

The ryokan's interior design and room decor were perfect, and the open-air onsen was ideally placed with just the right temperature. I was able to enjoy a long soak in the pen-air onsen at night without being bothered by bugs. The shower room was also clean and well-maintained.

Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and quite substantial. When I was unsure about which sake to have at dinner, they explained it clearly, allowing me to enjoy a wonderful drink. "Fly Me to the Moon" was particularly tasty.

There were many other wonderful aspects, but I will conclude here.

Every time I visit, I feel it when crossing the dedicated bridge before arriving at the inn. It gives a wonderful feeling of being separated from everyday life.

The rooms are stylish and have great taste, and the spaciousness creates a sense of openness.

The in-room bath is spacious enough for two, and you can adjust the temperature, so you could stay in there for a long time. The view of the bamboo from the bath is soothing, with greenery in every season.

It looks beautiful even in the rain, so you can relax regardless of the weather.

We used this inn for his birthday trip.
Crossing the bridge that only guests can use gives a special feeling. We reserved the “Shizuku” type room. The room was spacious with an infinity outdoor bath, and the view was amazing. However, the layout of the room made it a bit far to the toilet, and I found the toothbrush difficult to use. Also, the smell of the cushion was a concern, so I have some negatives. When I mentioned it was a birthday during the reservation, they changed the dessert to a birthday plate during dinner! Thank you! We were able to do sparklers on the lounge terrace, which made us happy since we couldn’t go to the fireworks festival together this year.

I was finally able to stay at this ryokan. I've wanted to visit for a long time. As soon as I entered, I could feel the quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The staff's attentive service was also very good. I appreciated their thoughtfulness in changing the course meal since I had communicated my dislike for seafood in advance. The welcome drink, with choices from the menu, made it hard to decide. The fireworks on the terrace at night were beautiful, and enjoying them with a drink created great memories. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious, and the onsen felt wonderful, leaving my skin smooth. The view of the bamboo from there was very calming. I look forward to seeing the different scenery through the seasons and would love to visit again.

Everything was wonderful and fantastic! This was my first stay, and I chose "Sora" because I heard I could stay at a great price. The fragrance, interior, and view were all amazing, and I unexpectedly enjoyed the Mid-Autumn Festival moon from the bath. The customer service was excellent, and I deeply appreciated the perfect handling of my companion's food allergy, which I hadn’t even been aware of. I’d like to express my gratitude to the cooking staff and others I didn’t interact with directly. The surprise birthday plate for my companion was a big success—I’m really glad I requested it. I treated myself a bit for this extraordinary experience, but it felt worth every penny. The dishes, presentation, and tableware were truly exceptional, and I lost track of time enjoying the delicious food. I also used the bar and had a relaxing time—thank you for that! Since my room was in a pre-opening phase, I’d like to mention a few points for improvement (not complaints). I intended to ask for the fireplace to be lit, but it wasn’t. When the room was dark, both my companion and I kept bumping our feet on the edge of the bed, resulting in a pretty significant bruise for me. It’s quite dangerous. My companion mentioned that the bathroom lock on the third floor seems to have been broken for a while, which is a shame. Overall, it was a lovely experience that makes me want to visit again. Staying here was magical. The staff were so incredibly attentive (also spoke very good English!), the food was beautiful & delicious, and the room with private onsen was spectacular. The hotel and staff made our stay so so special. We visited for a pre-birth trip with my husband. I had informed them in advance that I was pregnant, and they prepared a body pillow in our room and provided cushions at the lounge and dining area, showing great consideration. The room was spacious and open, allowing us to enjoy a peaceful time while looking at the greenery. I believe the absence of a TV contributed to our special time together. The food was exquisite, with delicate seasoning that highlighted the natural flavors of the ingredients. They also accommodated the removal of raw foods and alcohol, which was very considerate.

We also appreciated the complimentary drinks available at any time. Although it was the end of summer, the night terrace had sparklers prepared, creating wonderful memories.

The staff, who were mostly young, were very polite and had wonderful smiles, leaving a great impression.

The food was not only delicious but also visually pleasing. The in-room hot spring was spacious and the temperature was just right. It was truly a wonderful experience. I was very satisfied with both the onsen and the room. However, regarding the meals, it would be appreciated if there could be more flexible arrangements, such as delivering the food to the room later, in cases of illness or lack of appetite. I understand there may be management issues, but I think it would have been even better if I could have eaten at my own pace in my room later, even if the food had cooled down, rather than having hot food served as is. The option to have warm dishes served immediately is nice, but having the choice to eat in the room at my own timing would have been preferable.

I had previously stayed in Sengokuhara and had always wanted to try staying in Tonosawa. When I found a good plan this time, I decided to book it. The room was simple but the natural wooden flooring was very pleasant. The open-air onsen was especially wonderful, with excellent onsen quality and temperature. I was very satisfied and took five baths, the most I’ve ever had. The only downside was that the room’s refrigerator didn’t keep the beer very cold, which was a bit disappointing. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, made good use of local ingredients and were very satisfying in terms of quantity, quality, and taste. The staff’s response, from those who welcomed us outside in the sweltering heat to the front desk, guest rooms, and dining areas, was outstanding, making our stay very pleasant. Having enjoyed a stay in Sengokuhara previously, I decided to try staying at Tonosawa this time. The experience was filled with delightful events that kept us excited throughout, such as welcome drinks and sweets, free-flowing beverages in the lounge, sparklers, goldfish scooping, and summer-themed ramune service.

During this stay, as I was pregnant, the hotel provided a body pillow in the room, non-caffeinated tea bags, and accommodated my dietary needs by avoiding raw foods. These thoughtful services truly exemplified the luxury of this accommodation.

Even at checkout, they offered drinks after check-in, allowing us to prepare for our departure at a relaxed pace. Unlike other inns where you might feel an unspoken urge to leave quickly, this inn consistently showed care for its guests until the very end.

What touched me the most was receiving a good luck charm from Hakone Shrine for a safe delivery, with a heartfelt message wishing for a healthy baby. I was genuinely moved by this gesture.

I will definitely return! Thank you very much for everything.

Considering the cost of the stay, I was extremely satisfied. Although there is no large public onsen, the onsen in the room was more than adequate. The kaiseki cuisine was very delicious. At Kinnotake, you can enjoy unlimited beer, coffee, and tea at the lounge, which you can take back to your room. The service was also excellent. I have stayed at various ryokans in Hakone, and this was a place I would like to return to.

I had visited Sengokuhara in the past, but this time I stayed at Tonosawa for the first time. Excitement began at the entrance of the suspension bridge. We received a warm welcome. The room was Take which we had requested the second floor when booking. Looking out from the window, bamboo was everywhere, creating a spacious and bright atmosphere with a sense of openness. The spacious terrace open-air onsen in the room was also fantastic. On the day of arrival, I learned from word of mouth or someone's blog that there was no TV in the room. However, upon entering the room, my thoughts quickly changed. I decided to fully enjoy the room, onsen, and view! I listened to jazz and enjoyed a time far removed from everyday noise.

The meals were meticulously prepared, visually appealing, and extremely delicious. We ordered several specialty dishes such as butter-grilled abalone, but I was so full that I ended up leaving the final cooked rice... Even without additional dishes, the portion size was satisfying. The abalone was small but very tender and delicious. Moving to the bar, I sampled five types of desserts while enjoying the luxurious atmosphere with bamboo lit up around me.

For breakfast, there was a choice of Japanese and Western dishes, both of which were excellent in terms of content and volume.

The room amenities, drinks in the refrigerator, and coffee were well-stocked, making me want to enjoy more room time even during consecutive stays. The staff's hospitality was warm with friendly conversations and smiles, making everyone wonderful.

It was my first visit, but I would love to visit again and recommend this inn to others. Thank you very much for your warm hospitality, allowing us to relax and enjoy ourselves.

The reading light provided made it comfortable for me. If I had one request, it would be for the lighting in the washroom area to be brighter; it was a bit dim for doing makeup. My stay here was the highlight of our trip. We were greeted the moment we arrived and we were treated like we were their only guests. Absolutely first class level of service that is impressive especially in a country like Japan where high levels of service are the norm. I wish I could remember the names of the staff, but Mr. Yoshizaki was very pleasant while he helped us with breakfast.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. It is clean, with modern amenities and the refrigerator was stocked with drinks that made our stay comfortable. The view from our room, facing the bamboo forest is something that I will remember for the rest of my life.
I highly recommend this ryokan for anyone who wants to experience a peaceful, quiet stay in one of the most beautiful places in the Hakone area.

Discreetly located across a suspension bridge in its own little oasis is a welcoming 20+ room lodge featuring some of the best food around. There are more modern places yet the warmth of the wood decor and the flawless customer service put this one on tops of my book. They are working on the public access onsen but for now the private one in the room is just fine. Plus the food!!! And a great selection of older Burgundies for any wine lovers out there.

We chose this ryokan for a mother-daughter trip as my daughter's birthday was approaching. Once again, we were deeply moved by the attentive care of the staff. The new staff member who served us on the first night spoke excellent Japanese and enthusiastically explained the dishes, and their lovely smile made our time enjoyable. The meals were delicious both days, with a noticeable change on the second day. The seared beef sushi, added at my daughter's request, melted in her mouth just as she hoped. For the second year in a row, we stayed here. My wife is pregnant, and we were grateful for the various accommodations made, such as adjusting meals and preparing cushioned rooms and decaffeinated coffee after discussing our needs in advance.

Additionally, we were thankful for the opportunity to receive a prayer for safe childbirth at Hakone Shrine before departing. The only disappointment was that the public onsen was under construction, but we heard that a large onsen, gym, and pool will be available in summer, which makes us want to stay again.

I finally managed to visit with a friend when our schedules aligned. The room, onsen, food, and staff were all excellent. The open-air onsen in the room was incredibly relaxing—I could have stayed there forever, listening to the frogs and admiring the bamboo grove and hydrangeas. I love the rooms that allow you to feel one with nature, and the spacious open-air bath in the room is a place where you want to spend endless time. Another great pleasure is the beautifully presented and delicious meals. We always find ourselves discussing when we’ll visit next, even on the drive home.

My husband and I had been talking about staying here someday and were really looking forward to it. As a result, our stay was highly satisfying, from the room, onsen, meals, to the staff's hospitality. Being pregnant, we had informed them about dietary restrictions beforehand, which they confirmed again upon check-in. Additionally, the room had a maternity pillow, which helped me maintain a comfortable posture. I also appreciated their thoughtfulness, such as providing cushions for back support during meals. While it may be a while before we can stay again, we definitely hope to visit in the future. Thank you very much.

During our search for a place to stay with hot springs and fireflies as our main criteria, we happened to receive a direct mail from Kinnotake Tonosawa, which offered us a special plan for our accommodation. We were able to choose our room and opted for Room 107, which was recommended by the staff, and our stay was fantastic, especially the room's private bath. It had a large tub (big enough for 4-5 people, so it felt a bit empty with just the two of us!), and we could adjust the temperature ourselves.

However, we were disappointed to learn that the communal bath was closed for renovations and being converted into a pool. As for the meals, we were so full from lunch that we felt bad for leaving some food uneaten at dinner. But we made up for it by thoroughly enjoying breakfast. We both ordered Western-style meals, and my wife couldn't resist asking for seconds of bread, while I found myself asking for an extra serving of soup. My wife even mentioned how delicious the sausages were and wished she could have had more!

One of the purposes of our visit was to see fireflies, and we were delighted to be able to go out after dinner to observe them. Although it seemed a bit early for fireflies at the inn's "Hotaru no Kawadoko" due to the altitude, we were able to see them at the Hakone Yumoto "Hotaru Park" after driving down.

The staff, who were mostly young, provided excellent service and promptly attended to our requests, including setting up the television as we had asked beforehand. We've stayed at various inns as we love traveling, and although we've encountered high-end inns with poor service and food, Kinnotake Tonosawa was a rare gem that exceeded our expectations in a good way. We'd love to visit again in a different season.

We're also looking forward to visiting Kinnotake Sengokuhara, as it's part of the same group. To everyone reading this, we highly recommend visiting Kinnotake Tonosawa. It's a recommended inn in Hakone.

Lastly, to all the staff at Kinnotake Tonosawa, thank you so much for your hospitality. As we enter the rainy season and approach summer, please take care of yourselves and your health.

If I had to nitpick, one issue was that certain services were offered to one of the rooms but not the others (eg TV, pyjamas). I wonder why there was a difference in amenities offered when we all paid the same amount per person.

Unfortunately this ryokan is under construction, which creates a very unpleasant experience & ruins the tranquility. It’s beautiful and the staff was great. Food was solid. But the construction ruined the experience. It really should be closed while construction is taking place.

It's my favorite in Hakone. The pleasant hospitality and conversation of the staff brimming with smiles, delicious meals, and baths are healing in themselves. It's become a rule in our household to only stay at Kinnotake when in Hakone. Recently, it's unfortunate that there have been times when only hot water comes out due to the poor adjustment of hot water and water in the room. Please, I ask for fundamental improvements. It's a favorite enough to forgive with a smile for minor troubles!

Kinnotake Tonosawa is one of those special Ryokans. From the moment I drove up to the driveway to be greeted and on my way out was one of the small little details of being welcomed.

The room was exceptionally large with everything you need to relax in different parts of the room. The private onsen was big enough for me a 6 foot person and definitely can fit another partner in it.

The food for dinner was exceptional and I could not fault any of it, all of it tasted so good and I was well truly satisfied at the end. I got the Black wagyu beef fillet which was up there as one of the best wagyu. It wasn’t too fatty which made it easier to eat and not too rich.

My server for dinner Ishikawa was lovely and provided amazing service throughout. They even gave me a semi private booth for a solo traveller which I really appreciated, thank you.

Overall, for a solo traveller this experience is something everyone should try if your solo or a couple. All of the staff did a great job at making me feel welcome and will definitely recommend this Ryokan to my friends.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was exceptional. Comfortable and accommodating. The food was phenomenal and the rooms were very spacious with lots of in-room amenities such as complementary beverages, skin care, robes and yukata. The lounge was so peaceful and staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable and happy. We upgraded to teppanyaki for one night and it was one of the best meals we had in Japan. We felt like we could stay here a whole week. We would like to thank Chef Yohei, Kokubo-san, Sei-san and all of the staff for their hospitality. We truly felt at home at Kinnotake Tonosawa and we can't wait to visit again.

I usually stay in the club floor, but this time, I stayed at "Hikari" for the first time. The facilities in the room were almost the same, so I was able to relax sufficiently. If I were to say something, it would be appreciated if the room lighting were a little brighter.

We stayed for my husband's birthday and were able to relax and unwind in a very quiet and naturally surrounded environment, away from the everyday hustle and bustle. The unexpected chorus of frogs in the rich natural setting was quite a surprise, but it turned into a fond memory that made us laugh. We appreciated the consideration to not overlap too much with other guests, and we secretly imagined if it was intentional. Thank you to the staff for their hospitality.

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights and we had an outstanding experience. Coming from 10 days in Tokyo, this was the perfect way to rest and relax in our private onsen surrounded by beautiful nature and bamboo groves. The room was very spacious and serene, it had a large bed, comfortable lounging area, kitchenette, and several amenities included. We enjoyed the daily kaiseki breakfast and dinner, the cocktail bar, and the teppanyaki just up the street. We can't say enough great things about the hospitality by all the staff, the level of service, and everything that came with it. This is probably one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed at. Arigato gozaimasu!

The setting is beautiful and quite peaceful, however, there is no public onsen and the beds in the room are of very poor quality, for the price charged at Kinnotake, we expected much higher quality beds. The beds are low quality spring mattresses, with no mattress topper hence it is very uncomfortable to sleep on. At this price, we do expect much more of the beds and the hotel facilities (public onsen, gym etc).

Everything about our experience was fantastic. Staff were delightful and helpful. My only disappointment was learning the level of noise pollution. There is a main road that can be seen from the room's terrace with constant traffic from trucks, motorcycles, and cars. Our time there was tranquil, but with truck and car noises.

The facilities, meals, and staff were all wonderful and excellent! However, we had a difficult time getting a taxi on the way back, and when we went to the bus stop in the rain, we were refused service, so we couldn't catch the train we wanted. It was quite a hassle. Regarding transportation, I think immediate action is necessary rather than just saying "We couldn't catch a taxi." If this issue is not addressed, I will not visit again.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay for three days! The staff defines perfect service and catered to our every need, be it ordering a taxi, treating us to a sublime spa experience and massage, or preparing beautifully crafted and delicious meals. The rooms and in room onsen had such a spectacular design, amenities, and lighting that we fully appreciated the luxury of this establishment. We will be coming back as soon as we can to enjoy this magnificent Ryokan.

During the cherry blossom season, I stayed for an early birthday celebration (the blooming forecast was spot on!). This marks my third visit. The meals have improved in both seasoning and ingredients since my first stay, providing a satisfying experience. For elderly guests, quality over quantity is appreciated. One suggestion is regarding the "sakura shrimp tempura," a personal favorite. Since a small amount suffices, perhaps serving it with "udon" or "soba" noodles as an accompaniment would improve its palatability...? Another concern is regarding bed height, which I mentioned in a previous survey. The height is a bit awkward and poses difficulty for elderly individuals (with weak legs or back) to get up. Is there a solution...? This time, the water temperature was just right, and the staff's pleasant demeanor contributed to a satisfying stay. Thank you!

We were so impressed and delighted by our time here. I have never felt so well taken care of at any establishment in my life compared to Kinnotake Tonosawa. Me and my fiance were always well cared for by every member of the staff (even compared to the hospitality we had experienced so far in Japan) and felt that every interaction was genuine. Yuta-san in particular was so kind and attentive. From being greeted outside the ryokan to checkout, we felt so well taken care of in every moment. They offered to coordinate sending our luggage to the closest station so we didn't have to lug it around while checking out the rest of Hakone on checkout day, and also gave a complimentary ride down to the station which was highly appreciated!
Our room was so spacious, beautifully designed and stocked with so many complimentary amenities and a minifridge. The private onset bath was like out of a movie - with the bamboo in the background and being able to adjust the temperature. I am a bit of a germaphobe but the wooden bath was extremely clean and well maintained.
We also got the kaiseki dinner and traditional Japanese breakfast. Highly highly recommend getting these options as they were delicious and healthy. I felt that the meals could've easily been served at a Michelin star restaurant.
We stayed here at the end of a 2 week trip in Japan and felt that it was the perfect last night in Japan as we got to rest our tired legs and feet. Highly highly recommend this place, I was looking at other options that were less costly but am 100% confident that this luxury experience was totally worth it. If we visit Japan again I would definitely consider staying here again.

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, our experience was nothing short of perfection. We were greeted from outside upon our arrival and the staff was so kind. Our room was exquisite, we really could not get over just how relaxing and beautiful it was. The food was the best we had on our whole trip in Japan, it felt like a true Michelin Star cuisine. After 10 days of walking and exploring, it was magic to be able to soak in our private hot spring onsen and just be able to recharge. Above all, the staff makes you feel so welcome and so at peace, from the hosts, servers and bartender, it truly was a dream.

We cannot wait to go back and enjoy another stay!

When we told a friend about our trip to Japan for our honeymoon she couldn't have recommended Kinnotake Tonosawa high enough and we are so glad we took her recommendation. We had high expectations and it surpassed all of them! The service was incredible and felt so personal, our food was the best of our trip (especially the teppanyaki dinner), and we were able to truly relax after a few hectic days in Tokyo. Our only downside was that we wished we had booked more than one night! I was a bit nervous before leaving that it would be hard to get to, but it ended up being even easier than I expected via public transportation. We already want to come back and if you're thinking about staying, I would book right now!!

I have visited Sengokuhara before, but this was my first time at Tonosawa, and I was also impressed by the spaciousness of the place. The meals were delicious, and the rooms were of a comfortable size, making them easy to use. The outdoor onsen in the room was large, and I didn't feel the need for a communal bath. The dining area had ample space, and I didn't feel bothered by neighboring seats. The spa was also great. I will definitely visit again.

Had a wonderful stay! The dining was by far my favorite experience--had a great time talking to the chef and tasting the curated meal. Customer service was amazing--all the staff were very attentive. The bath was nice, however, it would've been nice to know that the community bath was under construction. Felt like a missed experience given how much was paid for the whole experience! Would love to come back and enjoy it one day.
