Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom at Odawara Castle: A Springtime Escape from Tokyo

Each spring, Odawara Castle Park transforms into a breathtaking scene of soft pink cherry blossoms. Around 300 Somei Yoshino cherry trees bloom from late March to early April, painting the historic site with the colors of spring. 

During the peak season, the park and its moats are beautifully illuminated at night, offering visitors a chance to enjoy the magical atmosphere of Yozakura—cherry blossoms after dark.

How to Get There from Tokyo:
Odawara is one of the easiest cherry blossom spots to reach from Tokyo. Just hop on the Tokaido Shinkansen from Tokyo Station, and you’ll arrive in Odawara in about 35 minutes. From there, it’s a short walk to the castle grounds. If you’re planning a longer trip, Odawara also serves as the gateway to the onsen town of Hakone, making it a perfect spring day trip or weekend getaway that combines culture, nature, and relaxation.
